Hello,
My name is Nancy Lindig and my daughter Abby Lindig was a vocal student of Phil's for many years during his time at Bramson's. Their friendship went beyond their musical relationship as Phil was one of her biggest supporters. Abby attended Juilliard as well as the Shepard School of Music at Rice University as an opera student; however, she changed directions after graduation and decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine and moved to Sydney, Australia to study at the University of Sydney. Phil was one of her strongest supporters and advocated for her doing what her heart led her to do. Any time Abby was in NY she and I would go visit Phil and it was as if they had never missed a beat. She called me tonight, sobbing, because she "had a feeling something happened to him", and she googled his name and saw that he had passed away just a few days ago. She is still in Sydney, about to graduate with her doctorate in veterinary medicine and is extremely upset that she has not recently seen or spoken to Phil. She has asked me to reach out to the family to ask for information regarding his passing and to offer her, and my, sincerest condolences. Phil was not only a brilliant musician, he was an amazing person--always giving of himself and always caring and supporting those around him. Even after Abby moved away, Phil would call me several times a year to check on her happiness and would always ask about her voice. He was so loved by by Abby and myself and will be missed immensely. Abby has asked that Sandy, or any other family member, please reach out to her at the above email address, as she would love to hear from you.
God bless you all,
Much love,
Nancy Lindig for Abby Lindig
