Obituary of Joseph John Kouri
Joseph John. Kouri entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 8, 2021, he was 96 years of age.
Joseph John Kouri was born and raised in Peekskill, NY, the son of Lebanese immigrants, Habib and Afifie.
Joe had an analytical and curious mind with a knack for understanding how things worked. He tackled camera equipment and plumbing with equal ease and skill and took particular pride in maintaining the home of his beloved mother.
A cultured man, Joe loved music. He appreciated the beauty of classical, thrilled with the jazz he discovered in the clubs on 52nd street and kept a taste for the drum corps music of his Highland Avenue childhood.
With an empathy that transcended his human family, Joe also loved animals. He had an especially close bond with his German shepherd, Jenny. A good day always included a walk with her.
Above all, he loved his wife, Isabel Feiner Kouri. Married for 66 years, they shared home-cooked meals, books, and movies. They always found reasons to laugh, and their delight in each other kept them young.
Joseph was buried in Assumption Cemetery on April 12th.
He is survived by his beloved Isabel.
