My heart is full of feelings of sadness, honor, and fondness at the same time. I am heartbroken that Mr. Green is physically gone and that so many years passed since I saw him last. And, I am honored to have known him - that entrepreneurial spirit and incredible work ethic. He may have been the first Black businessman I knew on a personal level. I remember with great fondness that beaming smile and loved impromptu drop-ins at the shop on North Malcolm to see and chat with him a spell with bestie, his daughter Nina. My sincere love and condolences to my beloved fictive extended kinship family. You are all so dear to me. I light the ocean blue candle because it's the color that most comes to mind when I think of him (maybe the color of the store? Caribbean sea? A cool breeze? Mr. Green was pretty cool!).
In my thoughts, prayers, and heart, always and forever.
