Obituary of Michael E. Strang
Michael E. Strang was born on June 26, 1955, in Peekskill, NY as the third child of Charles W. and Agnes (Quinn) Strang. He passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side on November 23, 2021, after a year-long illness.
Michael attended grade school at the Assumption Catholic School in Peekskill, NY. He graduated O’Neill High School, Highland Falls, NY Class of 1973. He lived in Garrison, NY from 1970 to 2007 where he made many friends.
In the summer of 1972, he met the love of his life Alethea Sasso, known to most as Lee Ann Sasso. They met on the lake he so loved, Indian Lake, where the Strangs have lived joyfully for the last fifteen years.
Michael began working for the railroad in 1973 on Penn Central. He became a machinist and wheel shop instructor in the Croton Harmon shop until his retirement in 2008. He leaves behind many lifelong friends he made during his 35 working years.
He loved the Garrison Yacht Club (GYC) and Peekskill Boat Club (PB) and the members turned friends he met there. He served as Dock Master at GYC for many years.
He loved the Hudson River, vacation with family and friends, music, Irish night at Guinan’s, the ocean, sports cars, helping people, and once in awhile a cold Coors Light. Most of all he loved his family, especially watching his sons and grandchildren grow into wonderful people. The laugh of a small child always made him smile. He was a quiet man in general, but his one-liners could light up a room with laughter.
He had beautiful green eyes, which he donated to give the gift of sight as his final act of kindness.
He is predeceased by his parents, his only brother William C. Strang, and two sisters Elizabeth Strang and Susan S. O’Riley. He is also predeceased by his nephew Bryan J. O’Riley.
He leaves behind many people whom he loved and loved him…
