Obituary of Clara A. Sawler
Clara (Clare) A. Sawler of Cortlandt Manor, NY passed away on May 18, 2022, at the age of 93.
Clare was born on October 9, 1928, in White Plains, NY to Hugh and Clara (Boylan) Mosher. She was a 1946 graduate of White Plains High School. On May 14, 1950, she married George S. Sawler at St. John’s Church in White Plains. She retired as a Medical Secretary in 1992 from Hudson Valley Ob/Gyn. She has been a devout parishioner of St. Columbanus Parish for 62 years. She was a long-time member of Nor-Cort and Verplanck Senior Citizen Clubs. She enjoyed bowling, line dancing, & playing BINGO, as well as, many different card games. She was an avid NY Yankee fan and enjoyed watching game shows.
She is survived by her five children; Barbara (Jerry) Layefsky of Cortlandt Manor, Donna (Jim) Agosta of Peekskill, Sharon Sawler of Montrose, Brian (Judy) Sawler of Garner, NC, and Lori (Tim) DePalma of Danbury, CT. Also surviving are ten grandchildren;Jessica (Joe) Middlebrooks, Jimmy (Michelle) Agosta, Erica (Evan) Dellon, Sara O’Neill, Michael (Shanel) Agosta, Amy (Dan) Vangor, Kevin & Krista Sawler, Alexandra & David DePalma, and eleven great-grandchildren; Jadyn, Jianna & Jazlyn Middlebrooks, Sophia & Sam Agosta, Jared & Jason Dellon, Morgan, Michael & Nia Agosta, Natalie Vangor. Predeceased by her husband, George, and her son, Scott.
Visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington Street Peekskill, NY on Thursday, May 26, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Columbanus Church, Cortlandt Manor, NY on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 10:00 am.
Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
