Obituary of Dolores M. Guzi

Dolores M. Guzi of Peekskill, NY (formerly of Buchanan, NY) passed away quietly and peacefully on December 26, 2022. She was 80 years old, born January 8, 1942, to Arnold and Mary (DiPietro) Langer.  She was married to Michael F. Guzi, who predeceased her on March 22, 1982.  Dolores retired from Hudson Valley Health Care System (VA Hospital, Montrose, NY) after 20 years of service.

She was a graduate of Hendrick Hudson High School.  Mrs. Guzi is survived by three sons, Michael (Kathrine) of North Carolina, Glenn, and Edward of Peekskill, as well as Sothy and her grandson Matthew of North Carolina, who called her Big D and she loved with all of her heart and was a joy in her life.

She was a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association for many years.  She was also a district leader of the Peekskill Republican City Committee and worked with her son Glenn on many worthwhile causes.

Mrs. Guzi was an exceptional human being with a tremendous capacity for love and friendship.  She was a friend to everyone who knew her, and her loss will be felt deeply for many years to come.  She was not only a mother to her children, but as adults, also their friend.

A special privilege for Dolores was being a guest at Buckingham Palace by Queen Elizabeth II some years ago. 

But her children say the special privilege was being her sons.  Her loss will be felt forever.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Christopher Church, 3094 Albany Post Road, Buchanan, NY.

Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 1055 Oregon Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY.
