Obituary of Genevieve Palmer

Genevieve Palmer of Yorktown Heights, NY passed away on January 15, 2016. She was 91 years old. Mrs. Palmer was born in Peekskill, NY on September 13, 1924 to John and Florence Robinson Galati. Genevieve received a degree in Education in 1945 from the State Teachers College at New Paltz. After graduating, she began her teaching career in 1946 at the Van Cortlandtville School in Mohegan Lake. She also taught at both the Park Street School and the Hillcrest School in Peekskill. Genevieve was also the Principal at the Uriah Hill School in Peekskill. She retired in 1983. On April 6, 1947 she married Vincent Palmer in Peekskill. Genevieve is survived by her three children; David (Allison) Palmer of West Hurley, NY, Jeffrey Palmer of Troy, NY and Marlene (Thomas) DeVaul of Peekskill. Six grandchildren; Brian Palmisano, Gillian Palmer, Michael Palmer, Diane DeVaul, Benjamin Palmer and Elizabeth Palmer. Also surviving are three sisters; Audrey Cothren of Peekskill and Althea Snowden of Fishkill and Lorraine Vezina of Mahopac, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent Palmer, and four brothers, Salvatore, Joseph, Anthony and Frank Galati. Visitation is Tuesday, January 19, 2016 from 2pm to 6pm at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill, NY. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2015 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
