Obituary of Carrie Bell Anderson

Carrie Bell Whetstone was born on August 29, 1944, in Orangeburg, South Carolina to her parents, the late Annie Mae Wright-Aaron and David Whetstone. At the age of five Carrie moved to New York with her mother and two brothers, David and Frankie Whetstone. Once there, her mother remarried her loving Stepfather, Isiah Aaron.
 

On September 23, 1972 Carrie married her beloved husband, the late Charles Leon Anderson; while residing in East Harlem of New York City, they raised their four children: Timothy Curtis Whetstone, Kevin Whetstone, Caretha Renee Williams, and Crystal Leann Anderson-Shrieves. In 1986, they moved to Brooklyn, New York where Carrie resided until the passing of her husband
in 2022. To be closer to her family, she then moved to Westchester, New York where she lived with her youngest daughter Crystal and Son-In-Law Sheldon.
 

Carrie was a true child of God and a disciple of Jesus Christ. With her quiet spirit, she served as an active member of Christ Temple Baptist Church for over 65 years, until God saw fit to close
its doors. During her years of service, Carrie wore many hats: Deaconess, Church Treasurer, Church Secretary, and choir member, just to mention a few. However, the role she treasured above all else was that of a Servant of the Most High God!
 

In 1962 Carrie received her diploma from New York City PS39 Central Commercial High School and later went on to complete two years of studies at New York City PS39 and Touro College. On June 30, 2012, Carrie also received a diploma of Practical Theology from the Astoria Baptist Church Christian Academy and Leadership Institute. For over 25 years Carrie also worked, as a Principal Administrative Associate, for the New York City Department of Housing Preservation
and Development, until she retired in the year of 2007.
 

Although Carrie was known for being soft-spoken, she enjoyed dancing and laughter. She was a dedicated wife, a loving daughter, and a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents and husband, Carrie Bell Anderson is preceded in death by her older brother, David Whetstone, and her younger brother, Frankie Whetstone. She leaves to cherish
her memory: Sons, Timothy Curtis Whetstone (Elizabeth) and Kevin Whetstone (Elizabeth); daughters, Caretha Renee Williams and Crystal Lean Anderson-Shrieves (Sheldon); grandchildren, Demetrius, Travis, Jackia, Tymel, Hakeem, Caj, Kevin Saunders, Kari, Zion and Ashli; great-grandson, Romare; spiritual daughter, Jacqueline Tyler; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and additional family and friends who loved and will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY.

Chapel service will be held during visitation at 6:00 pm.

Interment will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 11:00 am at Mount Rest Cemetery, 15 Kakeout Road, Butler, NJ 07405.
