Obituary of Carol Anne Gould
Carol Anne Gould, age 88, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024.
Carol was born March 24, 1936, in Yonkers, New York, the daughter of Anna and William Alleman.
Carol completed her Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Magna Cum Laude) and her Master's degree in Education. In addition, she earned her Professional Diploma in Education Counseling. Carol had a successful career as an educator at the high school, middle school and elementary school levels. Clearly Carol's fondest accomplishment and greatest legacy in education was her many years teaching third grade at Frank G. Lindsey Elementary School in Montrose, NY where she greatly impacted countless children from the community. Carol was also especially proud of a writing program that she designed which was implemented by school districts in New York and Connecticut. Teachers and educators utilized this program to teach creative writing in all aspects of the curriculum.
Carol's life was full of happiness, laughter, and adventure. With her influence, the family got involved in boating, ultimately, becoming avid sailors cruising the northeast coast for many years. There likely is not a port between New York and Canada that Carol and her family didn't visit, always under sail. Although there were times when life rocked her with unthinkable tragedy and pain, Carol weathered such storms with remarkable grace, perseverance, and faith. Her ability to care for others during her own moments of pain touched and inspired those around her.
Retiring in Palm Coast, FL, Carol found many opportunities for volunteerism. She taught young children in the community, served as Vice President of Friends of the Library, volunteered at the AARP Tax Program, was active for many years on the Special Events Committee for Advent Hospital, was a piano player at the Stuart Meyer Hospice House and served as a Eucharistic Minister at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church.
Carol is predeceased by "Gene" her husband of 60 years and her son Michael. She is also predeceased by her brothers William and Raymond Alleman. Carol is survived by her other son Kevin, daughter-in-law Jessica, grandsons Michael, Luke and John, sister-in-laws Kathleen, Kate and Patricia, and many, many nieces and nephews from the Gould, Alleman, Dolan, and Maguire families.
Carol was a remarkable and special soul who was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
