Obituary of Catherine T Foy

Catherine Foy passed away peacefully at 97 years old on July 9, 2024, in Mohegan Lake, New York. Catherine was born on June 13, 1927, in New York City to her Irish immigrant parents, John and Mary Hackett. She was raised in Manhattan alongside her siblings Mary, Annabelle, and Johnny. After graduating from Julia Richman High School, she began working at an insurance company, where she met her future husband, William Foy. After marrying on June 2, 1951, they moved to idyllic Cortlandt Manor where they raised their five children. Catherine embraced the transition to suburban life and loved being surrounded by nature during afternoons on her back porch for 65 wonderful years. 

Catherine was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who centered her life around her family and her faith. She was a dedicated parishioner at St. Columbanus Church. Traveling with friends and family was a passion of hers, both internationally and domestically, with some of her favorite locations being New Orleans, Dublin, and Vienna. Later in life, some of her favorite pastimes were ladies’ lunches, crossword puzzles, and watching British murder mysteries. She also treasured her weekly outings and enjoyed a nice rack of ribs from time to time. Catherine was the matriarch of her family, spending years hosting holiday dinners and attending special events for all of her grandchildren. Her greatest joy was found in connecting with others, with even strangers commenting on her overwhelming kindness. The loss of Catherine leaves an incredible gap in the lives of her family and other loved ones. 

Catherine was predeceased by her husband, William, her daughter, Marie, and all of her siblings.

She is survived by her children Bryan (Debbie) Foy, Charles Foy, Dolores (Carl) Spitale, and Anthony (Donna) Foy, as well as her grandchildren Katie (Sal), Jessica, Morgan, William, Thomas, Nicholas, Celeste, Michael, and Carl. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Catherine’s life at a visitation on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington St., Peekskill, NY 10566.

Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 11:30 am at St. Columbanus Church, 122 Oregon Road, Cortlandt Manor.

Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
