Joseph M. Malzo, Jr. of Garrison, NY passed away surrounded by his loving family on July 24, 2015 at the age of 71. He was born on September 7, 1943 in the Bronx to Joseph M. and Antoinette Chiavelli Malzo, Sr. Educated in the Bronx; he was a graduate of the University of Miami. On September, 18, 1965 he married Barbara Kleinmann at St. Raymond’s Church in the Bronx.
Joe began his career in business at Citibank where he became a Vice President. He owned and operated along with his wife, Barbara, several Baskin-Robbins Franchises in Westchester. Later he became an Insurance Agent for Keep Insurance in Tarrytown. Upon retiring he worked as a Funeral Director Assistant at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home in Peekskill.
Joe was an avid boater, a long-time member of the Cortlandt Yacht Club and Past Commodore. He was an active member of Christopher Columbus Society of Peekskill and Past President. Joe was also a past member of the Continental Village Volunteer Fire Dept. and member of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers. He enjoyed hunting, was a NY Yankee Fan and enjoyed cooking, especially with the “G-Crew Magnificent Seven”. Joe was proud of his 1963 Chevy Impala Convertible and enjoyed showing his car at area car shows of which he won several “best in show” trophies.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over forty-nine years, Barbara Malzo of Garrison and two loving children; Joseph M. (Amy) Malzo, III of Cooper City, FL and Christine (Matthew) Comerford of Yorktown. Cherished grandfather of; Joseph M. Malzo, IV, Alexandra Malzo, Cullen Malzo, Kaley Joye Malzo, Kaitlyn and Justin Comerford. Also survived by his brother, Raymond (Rhonda) Malzo of Newport Beach, CA, his mother-in-law, Margaret Kleinmann of Palm Harbor, FL and sister-in-laws, Patricia (Larry) Pignatello and Virginia Triviglia. Predeceased by his parents and a sister Janet (Malzo) Fury.
Visitation is Tuesday, July 28th and Wednesday, July 29th from 5-9pm both days at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, Jluy 30th, 10:00am, at the Assumption Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
