Obituary of Ethel Nilsen

Ethel Nilsen age 83, formerly of Cortlandt Manor, NY passed away on April 8, 2015 at the Vermont Respite House in Williston, VT. Mrs. Nilsen was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was retired from IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY. She was born on June 26, 1931 in New Paltz, NY to Charles and Irma Pole. On March 29, 1959 she married the late Nils C. Nilsen in Peekskill. Ethel is survived by her three loving sons; Nils C. Nilsen of New Wilmington, PA, Eric Nilsen and his wife, Chris, and Kevin Nilsen and his wife, Chris, both of East Fairfield, VT. Predeceased by, her husband, Nils C. Nilsen and a brother Carl Pole. Ethel taught Sunday school at the church where she met her husband, Nils. Ethel was widowed at the age of 42. She dedicated her life to raising her three young boys. Ethel will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Ethel and her children would like to thank the UVM Medical Center in Burlington, VT, all the caregivers in ICU at North Western Medical Center in St. Albans, VT, as well as the entire staff at the Vermont Respite House for their care, compassion and support during her stay at these facilities. Ethel supported many charities. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the charity of one’s choice. Visitation is today, Friday, April 10th from 4pm to 8pm at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill, NY. Funeral Service is Saturday, April 11th at 10am at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
