Obituary of Esmi L. Bidstrup

Esmi L. Bidstrup passed away peacefully at the Calvary Hospital in the Bronx on November 1, 2014 after a heroic battle with cancer. She was born March 20, 1925 in Denmark. Esmi worked for the US government in Germany during WWII. Esmi arrived in the USA in 1951 while working for SAS Airlines. Later, she worked for the Institute of Electric and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for 21 years where she was a senior administrator to the president and served on numerous committees and boards within IEEE, traveling the world, retiring in 1991. During retirement Esmi spent most summers in Denmark with family. She kept active with her line dancing, water aerobics, weekly visits to the Croton library, several book clubs and meeting her friends for lunch throughout the area at favorite restaurants. She also managed to become a US citizen in August of this year so she could vote in the midterm election. Esmi was an incredible inspiration to many and will be missed dearly.
