Obituary of Joann Fullenweider
Please share a memory of Joann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
JoAnn (Burton) Fullenweider gained her angel wings on March 17th, 2018 at the age of 74. She was born in Bronxville, N.Y. to John & Ethel Burton on June 2, 1943. She was raised by her parents in their Mt. Vernon, N.Y. home along with two sisters, Sophia and Gloria.
In subsequent years, she married Wayne Fullenweider, moved to a home in Peekskill and raised two children, Delisa and Todd, working for General Motors for 25 years before retiring.
Her favorite past time was engaging in a friendly game of Bingo. Of course you could try your luck at beating her in a hand of 5000, a rendition of gin rummy- but guaranteed she’d give you a run for your money because she had her strategy down pat.
JoAnn had southern roots with family in Virginia and the Carolinas which she’d visit with at least once each year. She dedicated her life to family and exemplified honesty and giving, welcoming all in need with open arms and embracing kindness. Her infectious laugh and warm persona were enough to make you feel you were one of her own.
JoAnn was predeceased by her mother, father, sisters and husband. She leaves 2 children, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 2 nieces and 4 nephews with a loving legacy of acceptance and tolerance.
She will always be remembered as everyone’s mother, grandmother, auntie and friend.
Visitation will be held at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home on Saturday, March 24th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm & 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
Private cremation service to follow.
