Obituary of Frances A Dawson

Frances A. Dawson of Cortlandt Manor, NY passed away on February 26th 2018. She was 77 years old. She was born July 23rd, 1940 in Mt. Vernon NY to Vincent J. Berardi and Anna M. Sciancalepore Berardi. Frances received her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1961 from SUNY New Paltz and was in the Sorority Alpha Kappa Phi. Frances also received her Masters of Science in Education in 1988 from Fordham University. She was a school teacher at Yonkers City schools for 2 years, Hendrick Hudson School district for 4 years, and Haldane Central School District for 20 years. After retiring in 2002 she wrote educational material for Brain Worx and taught Creative Writing at SummerArts in Katonah, NY. She was on the Executive Board of the NYP/Hudson Valley Hospital Auxiliary as Recording Secretary and Editor of the Auxiliary Newsletter. She was a volunteer in the hospital gift shop for 7 years and served on various fundraising organizations, including the NYP/HVH Auxiliary Scholarship Committee. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 Years William H. Dawson Sr. She is survived by her 3 children William H. Dawson Jr. of Hyde Park, NY, Elizabeth A. (William) Dawson Vaculik of Wappingers Falls, NY and Jonathan P. (Melissa) Dawson of Hopewell Junction, NY, as well as nine grandchildren; Michael (Courtney) Kraus, Nicole, Lourdes, and Adam Dawson, Anna and Grace Vaculik, Julia, Samantha and Katelyn Dawson, and 1 great-grandchild, Kelsey Kraus. Also surviving is Sister-in-Law Mary Jane (Calvin) Murray of Rye Brook, NY. Her family will be receiving friends on Thursday, March 1st at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Holy Spirit on Friday at 11:00am. Private cremation service to follow.
