William Lance Stillman
(May 17, 1943 ~ February 9, 2018)
William L. Stillman, a long-time Peekskill resident, passed away February 9, 2018, at New York-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt Manor, NY. He was 74 years old.
Bill was born in White Plains and attended Peekskill High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1961-1965. Upon returning home to Peekskill , he joined the Peekskill Police Department in 1966, rising through the ranks to Lieutenant before retiring in 1999 after 34 years of service. He then went on to become the Hearing Officer of the City of Peekskill until 2016.
Bill was involved in many community activities. He was a long time member of the Road Knights Auto Club (Peekskill, NY), and served as the Master of Ceremonies /DJ at their yearly car show and charity fundraiser; a trustee of the Peekskill Museum and a long-time supporter of Greyhound Rescue and Rehabilitation.
He is survived by his beloved family: wife, Joyce (Colao) Stillman, his son, Nicholas M. Stillman and his wife Donna , his daughter, Alicia Morgan (Stillman) , his two grandchildren, Lauryn and Jenna, one brother, Michael Stillman, his brother-in-law, James Colao, his sister-in-law, Eileen Colao McCutchen, one niece, Lisa McKiney, and two nephews, Shane and Jared McCutchen. He is predeceased by his parents: Edison and Edith Stillman, and brother John Stillman.
The family will be receiving friends at a memorial celebration of Bill’s life on Saturday, February 17th from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY 10566.
