Obituary of Joan E. Donnelly
It is with great sadness that the family of Joan E. Donnelly announces her passing on August 24, 2019 at the age of 89. Joan was the daughter of the late William F. and Ladora Ellis, born on May 22, 1930 in Peekskill, NY. She graduated from Peekskill High school in 1948 where she was known as the “dark eyed glamour girl”. On September 6, 1952 Joan married Roy E. Donnelly of Peekskill at St. Georges Church in Mohegan Lake, NY. Roy predeceased her in 2008.
Joan will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved to travel and her favorite place was in the sunshine with her family on the Delaware shore, on her boat on the Hudson River, or poolside. Joan had a fantastic sense of humor and her laughter was infectious. She loved a good game of monopoly or UNO with her grandchildren.
The last few years of her life Joan was happy to spend with her companion Paul Quimby of Milton, NY. They enjoyed their days together traveling or watching the NY Mets play.
Joan is survived by her sister, Betty Jane Goldstein of Peekskill, her five children; Kathleen (Michael) Ferris of Marlboro, Joan (Bart) DiMaso of Millsboro, DE, Roy Edward (Claudette) Donnelly, Jr. of Millsboro, DE, Beth (William) Kastin of East Falmouth, MA, and Lisa Donnelly of Rotonda West, FL. Also survived by nine grandchildren; Kathleen, Kristin, Kimberly, Kevin, Ryan, Michael, Lindsay, William, Ellis, nine great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother William F. Ellis, Jr.
